For many people including self, spontaneous giving is part of their lifestyle. I love to give in this manner but I am also very aware of what it means to be a faithful consistent giver.
Being a spontaneous giver is really about us being able to give gifts at random times. A surprise gift and unexpected gift is always a blessing to those who receive the gift but the emphasis is really about our ability to do it.
Now let me share the the other side of spontaneous giving. That would be the constant giver.
Most people complain...Consistent giving is boring. There's simply no pleasure derived from the consistency of giving the same amount over and over again. It's like paying your phone bill, your car insurance, your house payment. You can't wait to get it over with, you dread doing it every month. You wish you didn't have to but you know what will happen if you don't. Try paying your bills in a spontaneous manner or worse feeding your family and pet.
Giving to God & His Servants should be fun and it can be spontaneous but be honest... it's more fun and better to be a consistent giver than an irregular one. Imagine people who made your meals doing it an irregular inconsistent manner. Imagine them saying, I don't like to be tied down to the mundane routine of cooking and cleaning. I'm spontaneous and I'll do it when I want, when the Spirit moves me.
Somehow this type of thinking would not work well with the rest of the members of the house both natural and spiritual. The sole pleasure is given to those who do and do not according to when they want to to do or not do something. This comes with a heavy price tag though. Acting in this manner fosters the injustice and sacrifice of others for the sake of your own desires.
Spontaneous acts of kindness are fine but they will never been seen as greater than one who is consistent and can be counted on. You can build on this.
You can be as spontaneous as you want or you can be as consistent as you want.
We are grateful for all the gifts.
Here's a link for you to do either.
